Based on the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS), … U.S. residents … who had been a victim of … violent crimes during the prior 6 months increased from 0.98% in 2015 to 1.14% in 2017. 
That means that at least 1 in 88 people in our country became victims of a violent crime in the past 6 months.
It’s a scary number, but one that deserves special attention. Looking the other way will not change it. What can change it is being prepared.
