At Plus One, we teach a multitude of martial arts because different styles are appropriate at different times when it comes to self defense. We encourage students to train in multiple martial arts because

MMA GRAPPLING FOR WOMEN
We have many female practitioners who love this martial art for the intense, total body workout. Grappling effectively requires strength but this particular art is also about submission tactics; these tactics can and will work against anyone. Therefore, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a perfect component to add to your arsenal to even the playing field!
We offer both Womens-Only Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes AND Co-Ed BJJ Classes. In fact, we were the first academy in CT to offer a womens-only BJJ class.
MMA FOR SELF DEFENSE
Knowing more than one style of martials arts improves your ability to defend yourself. The workout and practice multiple martial arts improve overall strength, balance, coordination, speed, and reaction time. By training in both Muay Thai Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, you can attack and prevent attack from a distance or in close quarters.
