What happens in a typical Karate class? Karate is a traditional martial art that focuses on several key areas. The training involves learning techniques (punches and kicks), self defense moves (against pushes, punches, and common attacks), and forms (patterned movement that helps create muscle memory and promotes strength and mobility).

These last two years have been trying, to say the least. I’m very excited that, after more than two years away from on-site instruction, Suave is resuming Capoeira classes at Plus One on May 2nd. There is one primary reason why most people haven’t yet reached their goals, and it’s a simple one. It’s something that I’ve struggled with, and it just may be the one primary thing that’s holding you back from your goals. That one thing is consistency.

This is a question that comes up in a variety of ways. Both Karate and Kung-Fu have a lot of similarities, but they also have a number of differences. While there are variations on the them, for the most part, Karate is more linear in application than Kung-Fu.
