This is a question that everybody should be able to answer with a resounding, “Yes!” As times are changing, it’s becoming increasingly apparent that there is one person responsible for your safety. That person… is you. As a professional martial arts instructor, and a former police officer, I often talk with people about safety.

Training in the martial arts is a sure way to become healthier all-around. Your body can greatly benefit from the physical aspects of training. Your mind will benefit by being actively challenged to learn new ways to move and engage the body.

One of the things that makes Plus One Defense Systems unique is that we have so many different experts teaching different systems- all under one roof! I’m always inviting our Muay Thai students to train in Kung-Fu, and our Kung-Fu students to train in Krav Maga, and our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu students to try Capoeira… etc.

The question has come to me a couple of times now. “Given the news about virus concerns, what are you doing differently at the dojo?” I’m going to give a long answer, and then a short answer to this question. The long answer… as our standard procedure- we have cleaning personnel on staff.

Krav Maga is a martial art style designed specifically for self-defense. This style integrates techniques from boxing, wrestling, aikido, judo, and karate. Our CT academy of self defense offers Krav Maga classes throughout the week – morning and evening classes are available.

Every moment in life presents choices – what to do with our time, what to put into our bodies, and with whom to associate. Taking martial arts is more than working out or learning self-defense; it is an all-encompassing journey to a better you.
