OVERVIEW

The Bleeding Control Plus Course is a hybrid class that couples the American College of Surgeons’ “Stop The Bleed” program with additional life saving measures specific to traumatic injuries that are commonly sustained in tactical emergency settings.

It is designed for professionals who want to learn the life-saving skills necessary to take charge during a catastrophic event. Casualty care on the street or in the battlefield requires the best possible combination of good medicine and small-unit tactics. The specifics of casualty care in the tactical setting will depend on the tactical situation, injuries sustained by the casualty, knowledge and skills of the first responder, and the medical equipment at hand.

In contrast to a hospital Emergency Department setting where the patient is the mission, on the street, casualty care is only a PART of it. Become a leader in the field and BE THE DIFFERENCE when it matters most. The course offers a diverse pool of instructors ranging from Emergency Physicians to Green Berets. East Coast Tactical Medicine prides itself on promoting a shared learning environment that is fun, friendly, and informative.

DESCRIPTION

This course will give you the tools to treat a range of injuries most commonly encountered during small-scale or mass casualty incidents such as bombings, shootings, and stabbings. Many of the skills gained are applicable in everyday incidents such as arterial lacerations, car accidents, and other common occurrences that result in life- threatening injuries. Course content is presented through lecture and hands-on practical exercises using modern medical equipment, which can often be improvised in emergent situations. You will leave this class as a Certified Bleeding Control (BCON) Provider with additional skills that enable the provider to treat tension pneumothorax and obstructed airways using alternative interventions. In closing, the class covers tactical considerations that can make an otherwise lethal situation more survivable for you and those around you. At the end of the day, it comes down to the people who count on you when they can’t count on themselves.
