We’ve been teaching youth karate classes in West Hartford for over 20 years. Our karate is about self-defense, self-confidence, discipline and respect.
We focus on the journey, not the belts.
Belts are for holding up pants. While belt color marks progress on the journey, the important thing is what is inside the student. Our karate students are taught a curriculum which benefits the MIND, BODY, and SPIRIT.
Karate Classes for Kids and Teens in West Hartford, CT
Our Karate program for kids and teens teaches principles of discipline, structure and respect. It’s a healthy and safe way to build skills and improve self-defense capabilities. As students master techniques, forms, and sparring, they learn all aspects of karate and connect their mind, body and spirit.
We always underscore the importance of finding ways to peacefully avoid physical altercation in our classes. We give them the skills to defend themselves when needed, but also teach that it is a last resort. We believe that practicing karate regularly in a controlled environment is a safe outlet for energy that may have otherwise been unleashed in the wrong way.
Plus One Defense Systems is accredited under the United Martial Arts Alliance (UMAA). As students progress through the ranks, we are one of the few schools that offer a comprehensive and certified approach to instruction.
Kids and teens can also train in Kickboxing & Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
One membership covers everything.
We also have a pro shop for gear and a gym!
Karate classes for kids at our dojo focus on helping children increase their focus, self-discipline, and their perseverance. We have classes for children at our West Hartford location for Karate and Kung-Fu. We also have classes for Muay Thai Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for the kids who train with us. Everything is included in the membership, and we do encourage the cross-training between the different styles. (Kids don’t have to train in different martial arts, but we find that many kids like to do so.)
